My name is Romolo Gentili and I'm the last heir of 5 generations of olive-growers and the current owner of Frantoio Gentili. I grew up munching on bread and olive oil surrounded by the olive groves of the Alta Tuscia, in Lazio. Thus, in a short while, I fell in love with this business by closely observing the work carried out by my forefathers.
The story of this company got started almost two centuries ago (1820) in Farnese, a small village close to Viterbo, in the nearby of Bolsena Lake. Everything began with Giovan Battista Gentili who started producing olive oil by using millstones pulled by mules.
After the 2nd World War, my grandfather Romolo laid the foundations of a new olive oil mill in a cave in the middle of the ancient city settlement, where my father Pietro added modern mechanical tools afterwards.
In over almost two centuries in business, Frantoio Gentili has grown, evolving and innovating without ever losing sight of traditional methods. Respect of tradition remains our top priority, because it's where the quality of olive oil Gentili comes from. The olive trees are nourished not only by the warm Mediterranean atmosphere, but also by the heritage of knowledge that Gentili family has been preserving and passing down since a long time.
