Spring is the season of olive flowering. Unfortunately the current weather conditions, with sudden and persistence rainfalls, are not optimal for the flowering and the upcoming "fruit set"; a technical expression that describes the first step of the fruit development.
In fact, the optimal daily temperature should be between 20 and 25° C., without rainfalls, in order not to compromise the opened flowers' health conditions.
The olive growers always look at the fruit set with a great interest, trying to foresee the upcoming season progress.
Despite the weather conditions, which largely determine our extra virgin olive oil production, as growers we can intervene only with fertilization and pruning. In fact, they help us to preserve the fruits' good conditions and the plant vitality.
